Hadlock Pond, body of water

Hadlock Pond is a man-made reservoir in Fort Ann, New York, covering about 220 acres and stretching just over a mile long. The water reaches a maximum depth of 43 feet (13 meters) and is regulated by a dam that manages water flow and levels.

The pond was created in 1897 when a dam was built to generate power for Kanes Falls. The dam was rebuilt twice afterward, most recently in 2007, to ensure it remained safe and operational.

The pond has been part of local life for many generations, with families returning regularly to fish, boat, and relax. This steady use shows how much the community values this quiet spot as a place to spend time outdoors together.

A public beach on the south side allows for swimming and relaxing during summer months, with parking available nearby on Hadlock Pond Road. Access to fishing is easy from shore or small boats, making it simple to enjoy water activities.

The water is classified as Class AA, meaning it meets drinking water standards and matches the quality of nearby Lake George. This exceptional clarity and purity makes it stand out as a place where swimmers can enjoy the water with confidence.
