Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, National Natural Landmark and protected area in Berks and Schuylkill Counties, Pennsylvania.

The sanctuary covers 2,600 acres along the Appalachian flyway, featuring eight miles of trails and multiple observation points for raptor migration.

Rosalie Edge established the sanctuary in 1934 by leasing 1,400 acres and hiring Maurice and Irma Broun as wardens to protect birds from hunters.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives designated October as Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Migration Month to recognize the importance of raptor conservation.

Visitors can access the trails year-round and observe an average of 20,000 hawks, eagles, and falcons during their migration from August to December.

The Acopian Center for Conservation Learning conducts research on raptor populations and provides educational programs for students from across the globe.
