Helen Newberry Nurses Home, Historic nursing residence in Midtown Detroit, United States.
The Helen Newberry Nurses Home features red-and-brown brick construction with a slate-covered gabled roof and a three-story limestone entry bay at its center.
Built in 1898 with funds from Helen Handy Newberry, this residential building provided housing for students of the Grace Hospital Training School until 1968.
The building design incorporated specific spaces for evening medical classes and social gatherings, reflecting the educational needs of nursing students in the late 1800s.
Located at 100 East Willis Avenue, the structure now contains 28 apartment units following its renovation in 2011, maintaining its historical architectural elements.
This Jacobean Revival structure remains the last existing example of late nineteenth-century medical buildings in the Detroit region.
