Highlandtown Arts District, Baltimore, MD, Arts and entertainment district in Southeast Baltimore, United States.
The Highlandtown Arts District is an arts area in Southeast Baltimore that spans multiple neighborhoods including Patterson Park, Highlandtown, Greektown, and parts of Canton. Former factory buildings have been converted into artist studios, galleries, and performance venues that together form Maryland's largest designated arts district.
The area grew from a traditional Baltimore neighborhood and underwent a transformation that converted factory buildings into creative spaces. This shift made it become Maryland's largest designated arts district.
Artists work and display their creations in converted industrial buildings throughout the neighborhood. The Creative Alliance hosts regular film screenings, exhibitions, and performances that reflect how residents and visitors engage with local creative life.
The district connects to Interstate 95 and Interstate 895, providing easy access to downtown Baltimore. Visitors should allow plenty of time to explore the different neighborhoods within the area, as they spread across a large region.
Patterson Park, located within this area, hosts the Great Halloween Lantern Parade where hundreds of illuminated art pieces brighten the October night. This event brings together creative expression and community gathering in a memorable way.
