House on the Rock Carousel

House on the Rock Carousel is a non-rotating carousel display featuring 269 hand-crafted animal figures illuminated by over 20,000 lights and accented with 182 chandeliers. The animals are arranged in a densely packed composition that showcases an extraordinary variety of fantastical creatures throughout the installation.

Alex Jordan Jr. created this carousel in the mid-20th century as part of his expanding House on the Rock complex. It developed alongside other unusual installations and structures that became defining elements of the entire property.

The carousel features mythological creatures and imaginative beasts from around the world, reflecting the creator's deliberate choice to move away from traditional carousel horses. This selection shows his desire to spark wonder and playfulness in visitors through unexpected animal designs.

The carousel is open during regular House on the Rock visiting hours and forms a significant part of the overall tour experience. Plan to spend substantial time examining the countless details and individual animal figures throughout the display.
