Ledge View Nature Center, Nature center and botanical garden in Chilton, Wisconsin, United States.
Ledge View Nature Center is a nature preserve with hiking trails winding through woodlands, prairies, and an abandoned quarry site. The property spans about 40 acres and contains three natural caves formed where water dissolved through dolomite rock.
The center was founded in 1969 and its main building was constructed in 1981. A second exhibit hall was added in 1998, expanding the space available for displays and educational programs.
The center offers visitors insights into cave exploration, rock formations, and seasonal changes through guided walks and exhibits that unfold across the property. These programs help people connect with the natural forces that shaped this landscape.
The grounds are open from dawn to dusk, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace throughout the day. The trails are well marked and the site offers easy access to information about the different habitats you will encounter.
The center contains three natural solution caves carved into dolomite rock, a rare feature that makes it one of only a few public spots in the region where visitors can explore underground passages. These caves reveal how water gradually sculpts rock formations over time.
