Linden Street Bridge, Railway bridge in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Linden Street Bridge is a railway crossing in Waltham featuring a riveted steel lattice design with granite supports underneath. The structure measures about 98 feet in length and shows the technical approach to bridge building from that period.

Built in 1894 by the Pennsylvania Steel Company, the bridge served railroad traffic for more than a century. It stopped being used after passenger service ended in the early 1990s.

This bridge marks how railroads were essential to the city's growth and industrial past. It represents the engineering pride of an era when such structures connected manufacturing centers across the region.

The bridge sits above Route 60 and is visible from nearby walking paths. Plans are underway to restore it for use as part of a regional trail network.

Only a handful of riveted lattice bridges like this remain standing in the entire state. The hand-crafted connections and construction method represent skills that have largely disappeared.
