Linn Run State Park, State park in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
Linn Run State Park is a 612-acre protected area in Westmoreland County with waterfall features, mountain streams, and direct access to the surrounding 50,000-acre Forbes State Forest. The grounds include two picnic areas with tables and playgrounds, plus a natural spring water source in the Grove Run section.
The land was purchased in 1909 from the Byers and Allen Lumber Company, marking one of Pennsylvania's first major acquisitions of deforested terrain in the Ohio River Basin. During the 1930s economic crisis, a federal work program helped restore the land to its natural condition.
The Civilian Conservation Corps constructed ten cabins in 1933, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Linn Run State Park Family Cabin District.
The park is accessible during daylight hours with sufficient parking and trails leading to the waterfall and picnic areas. Wear sturdy shoes, as some sections can be slippery and hilly.
Behind Adams Falls, a hollow cave space allows visitors to stand between the rock wall and the falling water. This rare feature at the cascade makes the waterfall experience something that cannot be found elsewhere.
