Magoffin County Pioneer Village and Museum, Open-air museum in Salyersville, Kentucky.
The Magoffin County Pioneer Village is an open-air museum with reconstructed wooden buildings from the period of early settlement in eastern Kentucky. The structures, including log cabins, a schoolhouse, and community buildings, are arranged in a settlement pattern.
Several original log cabins from the early 19th century were carefully taken apart from their original locations and rebuilt on the museum grounds using authentic period materials. This reconstruction preserves the building methods and craftsmanship of early settlers.
The displayed objects show how early settlers lived and worked from day to day. You can see the tools and household items that give a sense of their everyday routines.
Visitors can explore the grounds at their own pace or join guided tours organized by the Magoffin County Historical Society. The society also maintains genealogical records for visitors interested in researching their family history.
The Fletcher-Arnett Cabin is a two-story structure with two rooms that was built by Kelsey N. Fletcher near Lakeville. This cabin displays an unusual building style not commonly seen in the other log structures at the museum.
