Maybury State Park, State park in Wayne County, Michigan, United States.
Maybury State Park is a 944-acre nature reserve in Michigan with rolling terrain, open meadows, and mature forests throughout its grounds. A network of trails winds through these different landscape types and provides access to fishing areas and cross-country skiing zones.
The land once housed a tuberculosis sanitarium with 40 buildings from 1919 to 1969, before medical advances made the facility unnecessary. The hospital was previously a major treatment center in the region for this disease.
The Maybury Farm section preserves farming traditions through educational programs and seasonal activities that show visitors how the land was worked in earlier times. The buildings and animals on the farm give a sense of rural life from the past.
Visitors need a DNR Recreation Passport to enter, which grants access to hiking trails, fishing areas, and cross-country skiing zones. It's best to wear comfortable shoes and bring appropriate gear depending on the season and activity you plan to do.
The park offers track chair services for visitors with mobility limitations, allowing them to navigate different terrain types including snow-covered paths. This program makes outdoor adventures possible for people with varying physical abilities.
