Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden

Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden is a 45-acre facility with different habitats including Lake Victoria and a rainforest exhibition area. Maintained pathways connect the animal enclosures with garden spaces, creating a continuous route for visitors to explore throughout the grounds.

The facility was founded in 1928 and started with a small collection of animals including lion cubs, antelope, and an elephant. Over time it expanded into the larger zoo and garden that visitors see today with multiple habitats.

The garden serves as a gathering place where visitors pause between animal exhibits to notice how plants and wildlife relate to each other. People return regularly to experience seasonal changes and observe the natural rhythms of the landscape.
