Memorial Hall, War memorial and university building at University of Delaware, Newark, United States.
Memorial Hall is a university building in Georgian style located on the University of Delaware campus in Newark. The structure features symmetrical wings, brick walls, white wooden trim, and double-hung sash windows characteristic of the architectural period.
The building was completed in 1925 and originally served as Memorial Library. In 1963, it was converted to house the Department of English and serve academic purposes.
The central foyer displays a memorial dedicated to Delaware soldiers who lost their lives during World War I. This space continues to serve as a place of remembrance for the university community.
The building stands at the center of the university Green and is easily accessible on campus. It houses lecture halls, screening spaces, and serves as a venue for community gatherings and university events.
ROTC cadets maintain a daily practice of updating a memorial book that records the names of all Delaware soldiers who served during World War I. This ongoing ritual connects the past with the present in a living way.
