University Museums at the University of Delaware
University Museums at the University of Delaware, University art museums in Newark, United States.
The University Museums at the University of Delaware maintain collections of American art, minerals, and Pre-Columbian ceramics across multiple gallery spaces.
The museums opened in 1964 with the Mineralogical Museum established through Irénée du Pont's donation of his personal mineral collection.
The Paul R. Jones Collection features over 10,000 works by African American artists from the 18th through 20th centuries, including Romare Bearden and Elizabeth Catlett.
The galleries serve as educational laboratories where students participate in the Curatorial Apprenticeship Program to gain hands-on experience with collections management.
The University Gallery holds extensive vintage photography collections, displaying works by notable photographers Gertrude Käsebier and Clarence Hudson White.
