The North Point Water Tower is a Gothic limestone tower in Milwaukee. Its circular internal pipe rose about 120 feet high while the entire structure reached about 175 feet tall.
Milwaukee built this tower between 1873 and 1874 as part of the first municipal water system. It was needed to bring water from Lake Michigan into the city.
The tower shows Victorian Gothic style and was designed by Charles A. Gombert. Its limestone came from near Wauwatosa, making it a local architectural landmark.
The tower sits in an older city neighborhood and is easy to spot from outside. You can get the best view of the structure from the nearby streets.
The tower received recognition as an American Water Landmark in 1969. This honor acknowledged its role in the city's water infrastructure story.
