Ogden Hall, University dormitory in Oxford, United States.
Ogden Hall is a residence hall at Miami University serving as student housing on campus. The building features red brick walls with stone trim in a Colonial style and spans multiple floors with various living spaces.
The building opened in 1924 following a bequest from Laura Louise Ogden Whaling to honor her brother George Campbell Ogden. Construction began in 1923 and marked an expansion of housing facilities on campus.
The building's construction required moving the Herron Gymnasium 522 feet east to maintain the view of Slant Walk from Lewis Place.
The residence hall provides dining areas and common spaces where students gather daily. Keep in mind this is primarily a student living space and functions as such throughout the academic year.
The gymnasium building was moved eastward during construction to preserve views from a historic campus walkway. This unusual solution highlights how the university adapted its plans to protect the visual character of the campus.
