Olympia Fields Country Club, Private golf club in Olympia Fields, Illinois, United States
Olympia Fields Country Club is a private golf facility south of Chicago with two 18-hole layouts on gently rolling terrain. The North Course stretches 7,343 yards (6,713 meters) with a par 70 design showing mature oaks, strategic bunkers and natural grade transitions.
Amos Alonzo Stagg served as first club president when the facility opened in 1915 with four golf layouts. Financial pressures during World War II led to a permanent reduction to two courses.
The clubhouse built in 1925 shows English Tudor elements with tall chimneys, dark timber framing and a clock tower rising 80 feet. Members gather in the large dining rooms and covered porches after their rounds.
Visitors require membership or a personal invitation from a member to access the grounds and golf facilities. The clubhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and may be accessible during special events for invited guests.
The club hosted four major national championships between 1925 and 2003, including two U.S. Open tournaments. The facility also served as venue for the Western Open multiple times in the first half of the 20th century.
