One Beacon Street, High-rise building in Government Center, Boston, United States
One Beacon Street is an office tower with 37 floors located at the edge of Government Center and the Financial District in Boston. A red and white broadcast mast rises from its flat roof, extending the building's profile above the surrounding downtown skyline.
Designed by the architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the tower was completed in the early 1970s during a wave of high-rise construction that reshaped Boston's downtown. It became part of a broader effort to modernize the city center that also produced Government Center nearby.
The building hosts the UMass Club on the 32nd floor, a gathering place for professionals and academics from across the Boston area. The space is regularly used for events, talks, and professional meetings throughout the year.
The building is close to several subway stations and within walking distance of two major train stations. From here, many central neighborhoods and points of interest are easy to reach on foot.
Because the tower sits on the elevated ground of Beacon Hill, even its lower floors enjoy views that would normally require a much greater height in other downtown buildings. This geographical advantage makes the outlook from inside the building broader than the floor count alone would suggest.
