Pershing State Park, State park in Linn County, United States.
Pershing State Park is a large nature area in Missouri covering several thousand acres with wetlands, woodlands, and grasslands. A 1.5-mile boardwalk crosses the most sensitive habitats, while longer trails follow riparian corridors along waterways.
The park was created in 1937 when Missouri purchased land to protect it as a public space. It was named after a prominent military general to honor his connection to the region.
Ancient burial mounds scattered throughout the grounds mark where indigenous peoples lived long ago. Visitors walking the trails can still see these earthen mounds rising gently from the landscape today.
The park offers camping options with electric hookups and basic sites, along with modern facilities like hot showers and restrooms. Day visitors can use picnic areas and access trails without staying overnight.
The area is also a productive fishing destination with four small lakes and streams where bass and bluegill thrive. Anglers can catch fish that have lived in these waters for generations.
