Ramsey Center

Ramsey Center is a multi-purpose arena in Cullowhee housing a 7,826-seat stadium, five racquetball courts, two basketball courts, and a walking track all within one facility. The complex provides diverse spaces for sports and events on the university campus.

Construction began in October 1982, with the opening in April 1986, marking an important expansion of sports facilities for the university. This period saw growing investment in campus infrastructure to support both athletic and community events.

The center is home to the Western Carolina University Catamounts basketball and volleyball teams. Events here shape campus life, with concerts, wrestling matches, and lectures bringing the community together throughout the year.

The arena sits on the Western Carolina University campus at Catamount Road and offers parking nearby. Visitors can access multiple facilities within the building and find the campus well-organized for navigation.

The highest attendance of around 8,100 people occurred shortly after the opening at a basketball game. This early success established the arena as a key venue for regional events.
