Dr. D. D. Hooper House, Historic Queen Anne residence in Sylva, United States.

The Dr. D. D. Hooper House is a two-story wood-frame Queen Anne dwelling at 773 West Main Street, below the hill of the Jackson County Courthouse. It has a hipped roof with asymmetrical cross gables, one-story wings on the south and east, weatherboard siding on brick foundations, and a front porch with turned posts and balusters. The porch has separate entrances to the residence and the doctor's office.

The residence was built in 1906 as both a home and medical office for Dr. D. D. Hooper and served this dual purpose until the 1930s. An additional wing was added during that era to accommodate the changing needs of the property.

The house is one of only two Queen Anne dwellings left in downtown Sylva. Its name recalls Dr. Delos Dexter Hooper, who practised medicine in the town for about 68 years and was physician to Western Carolina University's athletic department and surgeon for Southern Railway. The building now houses the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.

The building is located at 773 West Main Street and welcomes public visits during its hours of operation. The location offers convenient street-level access in downtown Sylva, making it easy to find and visit.

Before his house was finished, Dr. Hooper lodged at a Main Street hotel where, by local genealogical accounts, Thomas Edison stayed while seeking barium; the two shared accommodations for about six months. Henry Ford drove an early Model T to visit Edison, and Hooper joined their drive to Webster and back. Hooper later bought what was called Jackson County's first motor car.
