Russian Cultural Center, Museum in Phelps Place, Washington D.C., United States
The three-story Russian Cultural Center occupies a former residential building with classical architectural features at 1825 Phelps Place NW in Washington D.C.
The building, purchased by the Soviet government in 1957, transformed from a school for embassy children into a cultural center through a 1998 bilateral agreement.
The center maintains a specialized library of Russian literature and organizes exhibitions, film screenings, and performances by Russian artists throughout the year.
The facility opens Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering Russian language classes and cultural programs.
Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space, delivered the opening announcement when the center officially commenced operations on December 10, 1999.
