Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, Tunica, American hotel and casino
Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall was a hotel with gaming facilities in Tunica, Mississippi, located on a barge in the water as required by state law. The property featured several hundred rooms, a large gaming floor with slot machines and table games, a restaurant, and an event venue.
The property opened in 1994 and was the first Sam's Town casino operated by Boyd Gaming outside Nevada. Over the decades it expanded significantly, offering more than 700 rooms and a large gaming floor by 2020, before closing in 2025.
The gaming area sat on a water barge, which required a short walk from the main building to reach. Extensive parking was available and the property was easy to access by car, with an RV park for travelers with campers.
The casino featured Old West-themed design with storefronts and decorations evoking the American frontier era. From 1999 to 2007, Boyd Gaming sponsored a NASCAR race called the Sam's Town 250 that took place nearby, drawing visitors from across the country.
