Sanborn Seminary, Historic educational site in Kingston, New Hampshire, United States
Sanborn Seminary is a Victorian brick building with limestone trim and a multicolored mansard roof located in Kingston. It features five main sections with a central three-story tower and pairs of narrow windows that characterize its exterior.
The building was founded in 1883 and initially served as a private secondary boarding school. In 1966 it transitioned to become the public Sanborn Regional High School and has been part of the public school system since.
The building displays architectural ideals of the late 1800s through its elaborate brick construction and distinctive slate roof. Visitors can observe the craftsmanship that defined this era and remains visible in every detail.
The building is located north of Kingston's village center on Church Street and is easy to find. The best time to visit is during daylight hours so you can see the architectural details clearly.
The original bell from the building was removed and has been displayed in the atrium of the modern Sanborn Regional High School since 2006. This relocation connects the historic structure to the contemporary school that succeeded it.
