Sandhills Horticultural Gardens, Botanical gardens at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The thirty-two acre gardens contain multiple sections including formal English designs, native wetland trails, and specialized plant collections throughout the campus grounds.
The gardens originated in 1978 with the creation of the Ebersole Holly Garden, which developed into the largest public holly collection on the East Coast.
The Landscape Gardening Program, started by Fred Garrett in 1968, trains students who maintain and develop these gardens as part of their curriculum.
Located at 3395 Airport Road, the gardens remain open from sunrise to sunset, with the Ball Garden Visitors Center operating from 8 AM to 5 PM.
The Desmond Native Wetland Trail features a boardwalk through indigenous vegetation, functioning as both a nature conservancy and bird sanctuary.
