Snake Mountain, Mountain summit in Addison County, Vermont, United States.

Snake Mountain rises to 1,287 feet above sea level, featuring a network of trails through dense woodland and rocky terrain to reach the summit.

The Grand View Hotel operated on Snake Mountain from 1874 to 1925, attracting summer visitors with its observation tower and carriage road.

The mountain holds significance for the Abenaki people, who inhabited the surrounding region before European settlement in the Addison County area.

The main trail spans 1.8 miles from the trailhead at Wilmarth Road intersection to the summit, with designated parking areas for visitors.

The mountain formed as an island in glacial Lake Vermont 13,000 years ago, created by a Champlain thrust fault placing quartzite above gray shale.
