Trumbullplex, Art gallery in Woodbridge neighborhood, Detroit, United States.
Trumbullplex comprises two Victorian houses linked by an art space along Trumbull Avenue. The connected buildings house rotating exhibitions, performance areas, and a zine library with thousands of independently published works.
The project began in 1993 when housing collective members founded a nonprofit to purchase and develop the site as a creative community space. Its establishment reflected efforts to repurpose abandoned or underused properties in the neighborhood.
The space serves as a meeting point for independent and experimental artists, musicians, and community organizers who share their work publicly. Visitors encounter diverse performances and exhibitions that reflect the interests and voices of people working outside mainstream institutions.
Visit during event weekends when exhibitions, concerts, and other gatherings are held throughout the connected spaces. Checking ahead for the current schedule helps ensure you arrive when the venue is actively hosting programming.
In 2016, three adjacent vacant properties were purchased and transformed into outdoor spaces for art installations and community gatherings. These outdoor areas allow the venue to expand its activities beyond the Victorian buildings themselves.
