University Park, Public park in Main South neighborhood, Worcester, United States.
University Park is a 13-acre urban green space centered around Crystal Pond in the Main South neighborhood. The park includes walking paths, two basketball courts, a tennis court with pickleball markings, and a playground area.
Worcester acquired the land between 1887 and 1889 from multiple property owners including Sarah Anderson and William Gates. Over time, the site developed into a public recreation area serving the Main South community.
Clark University faculty, staff, and students actively participate in neighborhood development through research projects and mentoring programs with local children.
The park is open year-round and welcomes visitors of all ages and activity levels. Clearly marked trails and flat terrain make navigation straightforward, and most amenities are easy to locate and access.
Crystal Pond freezes over during cold winters, creating a skating surface for visitors. This seasonal transformation gives the park a different character when temperatures drop.
