Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park

Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park is a protected area on Maine's coast featuring forests, salt marshes, and rocky shorelines. The grounds cover about 244 acres along a bay and river, displaying the mix of landscapes typical to this coastal region.

The land became a state park in 1969 after a couple donated it to protect the coastal environment. This gift secured the property for future generations to enjoy.

The park draws visitors who want to experience coastal woodlands and salt marshes firsthand. Many come to observe how different ecosystems exist side by side and to understand the rhythms of life along the water's edge.

The park has five miles of marked trails connecting different habitats, with signs explaining the local wildlife. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and pay attention to tides if they plan to explore the shorelines.

Fish eagles nest on a nearby island from April through August and hunt in the surrounding waters. This makes the park an outstanding spot to watch these large raptors dive for their catch.
