Built in 1856 as a farmhouse for Isaiah Wilcox, the residence operated alongside a 40-acre agricultural property until modern development reduced the grounds to under one acre.
The structure demonstrates the architectural principles of Orson Fowler, who promoted octagonal home designs through publications in the mid-nineteenth century United States.
Located at 5420 West Genesee Street, the house museum opens from April through November on Sundays between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, with free admission.
The construction materials originated entirely from the farm where the house stands, incorporating local resources into every aspect of the building.
