North Field

North Field is a military airfield located on Tinian Island in the Northern Mariana Islands. The facility contains multiple runways originally designed to accommodate large military transport and bomber aircraft operating across the Pacific.

The airfield was built in 1944 by the United States Army Air Forces to establish a strategic Pacific base for long-range bomber operations. It served as a launching point for missions in the final stages of the Pacific campaign.

North Field represents a turning point in Pacific warfare tactics, demonstrating the evolution of aerial military operations during World War II.

Access to the site requires advance authorization from military authorities. Tours led by approved local operators offer guided visits through the historical structures and grounds.

The original concrete structures from the 1940s remain largely intact, including aircraft parking aprons and maintenance areas. These preserved remnants offer a direct window into wartime military infrastructure of that period.
