Bonnie & Clyde Garage Apartment, Historic apartment in Joplin, Missouri.
The Bonnie & Clyde Garage Apartment is a two-story residence in Craftsman style located in Joplin, Missouri, United States. The facade shows exposed rafter ends beneath a hipped roof, while the building rests on a concrete foundation at 3347 Oak Ridge Drive.
Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow used the apartment as a hideout for 13 days in April 1933 until police traced their location. The armed confrontation that followed ended with the deaths of two officers and the criminals' hasty departure.
The building gained its name from the criminal couple's brief stay in spring 1933, an event that still draws curious visitors today. Film rolls left behind with photographs of the pair later became part of American gangster myth and shaped the public image of the outlaws.
The apartment remains a private dwelling, so visitors may only view the house from the public sidewalk on 34th Street. It is advisable to keep a respectful distance and avoid stepping onto private property.
Inside the apartment, bullet holes from the 1933 gunfight are said to remain visible, serving as silent witnesses to the incident. These physical traces give the space an almost tangible connection to the dramatic events of that April night.
