Eastside High School, Public high school in Paterson, United States
Eastside High School is a public secondary school in Paterson, New Jersey. The building includes modern classrooms, outdoor athletic facilities and dedicated areas for arts and performance activities.
The school opened its doors in 1926 after students transferred here from Central High School. The construction had cost the city one and a half million dollars at the time.
The sports teams go by the name Ghosts because the football field occupies land where a cemetery once stood. This unusual origin remains part of the local memory and shapes the identity people associate with the teams.
The institution employs more than one hundred full-time teachers who cover different academic subjects. The ratio of learners to educators allows for a manageable framework for the over two thousand enrolled young people.
Part of the main building underwent thorough renovation during the nineties while the original facade from the twenties was preserved. This mix of old shell and modern interiors now defines the appearance of the complex.
