Trax, Music venue near University of Virginia in Charlottesville, United States

Trax was a nightclub located in a converted industrial building adjacent to railroad tracks with capacity for roughly 900 guests. The space contained multiple dance floors and stages designed for live music performances.

The club opened in 1982 and quickly became a hub for live music in the region. It gained particular recognition as the regular performance venue for a locally-formed band that later achieved international success.

The venue hosted performances from punk, rock, and pop bands spanning multiple decades, creating a diverse musical space for both regional and touring artists. This programming shaped the city's nightlife and gave local musicians opportunities to perform alongside established acts.

The building was conveniently located near the university and downtown area, making it accessible to students and visitors. Its position next to railroad tracks served as a clear landmark for finding the venue.

The club's name was directly inspired by the railroad tracks running immediately beside the building, which contributed to its distinctive industrial character and sound. This constant presence of the railway made the space instantly recognizable and shaped the venue's overall feel.
