Ellerslie, Renaissance Revival mansion in Colonial Heights, United States.
The Ellerslie estate features a three-story tower with a hipped roof, full-width front porch, and two-story rear service wing connected by an arcade.
Designed in 1856 by Scottish architect Robert Young, this 2.5-story building replaced an earlier plantation house that had been destroyed by fire.
During the Civil War in 1864, Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard established his headquarters at Ellerslie after the building sustained Federal cannon fire.
The property, listed in the National Register of Historic Places since 1973, remains visible from public rights-of-way for architecture enthusiasts.
A cannonball from the 1864 Battle of Swift Creek remained embedded in the mansion's wall until renovations occurred in 1910.
