The Farr Building stands at 739 Hamilton Street with Classical Revival architecture, featuring cast iron crossbeams and tall windows across multiple floors.
The structure was built by Harvey and Jacob Farr Jr to house their expanding shoe manufacturing business, which began as a small shop in 1862.
The building bears a 1925 plaque commemorating local soldiers who served during the American Revolutionary War at a hospital once located on this site.
Following renovation in 2004, the building contains 20 residential loft units with 12-15 foot ceilings, modern appliances, and high-speed internet connectivity.
The original yellow pine and maple flooring remains intact throughout many apartments, preserving elements from the 1907 construction.
