The Hotel Allen featured 150 guest rooms across six stories, with electric lighting throughout and various retail stores on the ground floor.
Constructed in 1882 on a site previously occupied by the King of Prussia inn from 1762, the Hotel Allen served the community until its demolition in 1956.
The hotel hosted three United States presidents - Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson - during their visits to Allentown.
The seventh-floor observation tower provided visitors with expansive views across the city landscape of nineteenth-century Allentown.
During summer evenings, guests gathered in the porch garden to enjoy musical performances while dining on meals from the hotel restaurant.
