Atlantic Garden, Theatre in Chinatown, Manhattan, US
Description
The Atlantic Garden was an entertainment venue in Manhattan that spanned an entire block with access from both Bowery and Elizabeth Streets. It combined theater performances with a beer hall, offering a mixed dining and entertainment experience under one roof.
History
William Kramer founded this venue in 1858 on the site of the former Bull's Head Tavern, which had once served as New York's livestock market center. The location transformed over the following decades as immigrant populations in the neighborhood shifted and evolved.

The Atlantic Garden was a gathering place where immigrant communities came together for entertainment, music, and social occasions. It reflected the changing makeup of the neighborhood as the area shifted from German to Jewish residents.
Practical
The original location stood at 50 Bowery and operated as a combined dining and entertainment establishment. Visitors should note that the building was demolished in 2013 to make way for a modern hotel development.
