Longue Vue Club and Golf Course is a private golf club situated on one of the highest points in Penn Hills Township, offering expansive views across the Allegheny River Valley. The property spans over 300 acres and originally included riding trails and stables alongside the golf course.
The club was founded in 1920 by wealthy Pittsburgh industrialists and business leaders who sought to create a private golf retreat. The clubhouse was completed in 1923 in English country estate style by architect Benno Janssen, while the golf course was designed by renowned Scottish golf architect Robert White.
The name Longue Vue comes from French, meaning 'long view', reflecting the refined leisure interests of wealthy Pittsburgh industrialists who gathered here for golf and horseback riding as marks of cultivation.
The grounds are spacious and easy to walk through, featuring rolling hills and open areas that are accessible on foot. The site sits on elevated terrain, so pathways wind through the landscape while maintaining scenic views throughout your visit.
