Mayborn Building, Educational building at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, United States.
The Mayborn Building is an educational structure at Vanderbilt University in Nashville featuring red brick walls, stone columns, a marble entryway, tin roof, and birch floors. A central grand staircase serves as the organizing element within, connecting the building's different levels.
The building was constructed in 1914 and originally served as the Manual Training Building at George Peabody College for Teachers. It later became part of Vanderbilt University and was renamed to honor a significant donor to the institution.
The building displays classical architecture that reflects early 20th-century educational standards and continues to serve as a teaching space for graduate students today. This setting shapes how faculty and students interact with the physical space during their daily work.
The building houses the Human and Organizational Development program with faculty offices, classrooms, and instruction spaces. It remains an active teaching area where classes and academic activities take place regularly.
This is the oldest structure on the Peabody campus and underwent restoration work to maintain accreditation for its graduate programs. The renovation preserved the original architectural features while meeting contemporary academic requirements.
