McCormick Road Dormitories, University residence halls at University of Virginia, United States

McCormick Road Dormitories are ten residence houses at the University of Virginia arranged in L-shaped units that accommodate about 1300 students in interconnected buildings. The structures feature double-occupancy rooms, shared bathrooms on each floor, and resident advisors stationed throughout the hallways.

These residences were built in 1950 on land that previously held a golf course as enrollment surged after World War II. The construction responded directly to the G.I. Bill, which enabled veterans to attend college.

Each house bears the name of an influential University of Virginia professor, including Charles Bonnycastle and Richard Heath Dabney, preserving academic legacy.

The living spaces are simply furnished and maintained by the university, with room assignments and access managed through the residential office. It helps to familiarize yourself early with specific housing guidelines, as these govern building access and rules for each residential unit.

The central grassy area called The Quad serves residents year-round as a gathering place for concerts, festivals, and community activities. This outdoor space is regularly used by residents for film screenings and student performances throughout the seasons.
