The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation acquired this land in 1990, transforming former agricultural fields into protected natural spaces.
The park maintains an active forestry project to establish young forest growth, diversify wildlife habitats, and promote natural ecosystem balance.
Visitors can explore over 5 miles of marked trails that support multiple activities including hiking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing throughout seasons.
A universally accessible graveled trail leads to Burtt Wildlife Pond, named after M. Edward Burtt who developed the park's boulder-fringed roads and dam.
