Higgins Armory Building
Higgins Armory Building, Event venue and heritage landmark in Worcester, United States
Higgins Armory Building is an event venue and registered historic place in Worcester featuring an L-shaped layout with large stained glass windows throughout. It contains multiple rooms of varying sizes suited to different occasions.
Built in 1931 by industrialist John Woodman Higgins, the building originally housed an extensive collection of weapons and armor. The collection departed in 2013, allowing the structure to transition into its current role as an event space.
The building merges contemporary steel construction with interiors that reference medieval forms, creating an unusual contrast between exterior and interior design. This approach shapes how visitors experience the different spaces today.
The venue sits centrally in Worcester with good vehicle access from main roads. Visitors should check parking availability beforehand and contact the space to clarify arrival procedures and orientation.
Today around 16 different businesses operate within the building, using the spaces for entirely different purposes from dance instruction to insurance services. This mixed use gives the place a lively, varied character.
