Autódromo José Carlos Bassi, Motor racing circuit in Villa Mercedes, Argentina
The Autódromo José Carlos Bassi is a motor racing circuit in Villa Mercedes, in the Argentine province of San Luis, with a long starting straight and several turns. It has pit areas, spectator stands, and emergency services, and sits in an open space within a larger park complex.
The circuit opened in 2017 and held its first official event that same year. That debut established motor racing as a regular activity in Villa Mercedes.
The circuit is named after a regional racing driver who shaped motorsport in San Luis province. His name gives the track a local identity that goes beyond the sport itself.
The site is easy to reach and sits in an open area with little shade, so sun protection is a good idea on sunny days. On race days, arriving early helps secure a good spot in the stands.
Outside of race events, the track becomes a public avenue with dedicated bicycle paths used by local residents on a daily basis. This makes it one of the few racing circuits in the world that also functions as everyday community infrastructure.
