Saint Anthony Church

Saint Anthony Church is a neoclassical building in Americana distinguished by its monumental proportions and classical architectural design. The interior features extensive painted decorations that cover the walls and contribute to the sacred atmosphere.

Construction began in 1950 on this neoclassical building, which replaced an earlier chapel established by Italian immigrants almost 60 years before. The structure received the status of Minor Basilica in 2014.

Italian brothers Pietro and Ulderico Gentili created the interior murals between 1950 and 1972, with Pietro passing away while working on the paintings.

This building serves as the main religious center in the Diocese of Limeira and welcomes visitors regularly. Planning a visit during daylight hours allows for better appreciation of both the architecture and the interior decorations.

The central dome contains twelve sculpted figures designed by one of the artists who also worked on the interior murals. These carved works create a striking visual focal point within the temple.
