Villa Senar

Villa Senar is a Neues Bauen style building on the shore of Lake Lucerne near Weggis, comprising a main residence, a gardener's house, boathouse, and garage. The two-hectare property features diverse trees and open green spaces that overlook the water.

Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff purchased land here in 1930 and constructed the villa as his family residence. The property became a significant location for his musical compositions and creative work.

The name Villa Senar combines letters from composer Sergei Rachmaninoff and his wife Natalia's names, reflecting the couple's shared life here. Today visitors experience the space as a working venue for music and art, keeping the personal connection to its founders alive.

The villa requires advance reservations before visiting, with capacity for up to 20 guests for banquets or 35 for receptions. Plan ahead to arrange access and note that the lakeside location offers a scenic approach to the property.

Rachmaninoff composed his Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Third Symphony within these walls. The original concert grand piano he used remains in the house and visitors can see this instrument during their visit.
