Maulbronn Monastery

Maulbronn Monastery is a complete medieval religious complex with a church, dormitories, dining halls, workshops, and administrative buildings all enclosed within defensive walls and towers. The grounds show how a major religious center was structured and organized.

The monastery was founded in 1147 and became an Imperial Abbey in 1156, granting it special privileges and exemptions within the Holy Roman Empire. These privileges allowed it to prosper and gain influence over many centuries.
