ÖVB Arena, Multi-purpose hall and velodrome in Findorff, Bremen, Germany
The ÖVB Arena is a multi-purpose hall and velodrome in the Findorff district of Bremen, supported by six reinforced concrete pillars that form a ship bow shape. The building extends 77 meters in length, 40 meters in width, and rises 20 meters high.
Austrian architect Roland Rainer designed this multi-purpose hall, which opened its doors in 1964 and quickly became a central venue in Bremen. A thorough renovation in 2005 updated the seating layout and modernized the technical facilities throughout the building.
The arena hosts approximately 60 events annually, ranging from basketball tournaments and cycling competitions to performances by international music artists and circus shows.
The hall accommodates up to 14,500 visitors across six circled seating tiers and features wide entrances along with modern elevators for comfortable access. A large parking area with space for 2,500 vehicles surrounds the building for visitor convenience.
The hall floor contains specialized cable ducts that allow flexible power supply during transformations for different events. An advanced hanging system in the ceiling enables rapid reconfiguration between sporting events, concerts, and other gatherings.
