Europa-Rosarium

Europa-Rosarium is a botanical garden in Sangerhausen dedicated to rose cultivation and display, with thousands of different rose varieties arranged throughout the grounds. The layout includes clear pathways, informational signs at key locations, and a central cafe where visitors can take a break.

The garden was established in the late 1800s by rose breeders who wanted to create a center for rose cultivation in Sangerhausen. Nearly a century later, it received its current official designation and became formally recognized as an important European rose institution.

The garden serves as a living collection that brings together rose varieties from across Europe, and the large open-air arena serves as a natural gathering space. Concerts and performances happen regularly among the flowers, creating a social hub in the park.

The garden is crisscrossed with clearly marked walking paths that are easy to navigate throughout your visit. There are information boards scattered across the grounds and a cafe in a central location where you can buy drinks and light snacks.

The garden grows rose varieties that rarely or never appear in nature, including green roses that were created by breeders over the years. You will also see climbing roses trained to grow on pyramid and column structures, creating distinctive sculptural forms throughout the park.
