Naila

Naila is a town in the Hof district of Bavaria, situated along both sides of the Selbitz river. The municipality consists of several neighborhoods set within the forested landscape of the Franconian region.

The settlement first appeared in written records in 1343 as Neulins. A margrave granted it official privileges and symbols of authority in the 15th century, establishing its status as a proper town.

The local library and community spaces host regular events that bring residents together throughout the year. These venues serve as gathering points where people discover art, books, and shared interests.

The town is well connected by public transport and road links to nearby cities. Parking is available throughout the central area, and you will find shops and restaurants scattered in the town center.

In 1979, two families from East Germany executed a daring escape by landing a homemade hot-air balloon in the area. This remarkable event from the Cold War remains part of the town's modern history and is remembered by residents.
