Langenselbold station, Railway station and cultural heritage monument in Langenselbold, Germany.
Langenselbold station lies on the Frankfurt-Göttingen railway line and has three platform tracks for regional traffic. The entrance building has an asymmetrical design and is protected as a cultural heritage monument.
The station opened on May 1, 1867, as part of the Frankfurt-Bebra railway development. From 1904 to 1963, it also served as the terminus for the Freigericht Light Railway, which operated its own facilities and entrance building.
The entrance building from 1868 displays neoclassical features with a two-story main structure and an eastern wing. This architecture reflects the construction traditions of that era and continues to define the appearance of the place today.
The station is accessible from Wolfgang and Gelnhausen, served by trains operating at speeds up to 200 kilometers per hour. Visitors should find the platforms near the main building and can easily see the monument from the street.
The Freigericht Light Railway was a separate narrow-gauge line that ran on its own tracks beside the main station from 1904 to 1963. Its ticket windows and independent entrance building have disappeared, but their history shows how diverse rail service once was here.
